A large white magnolia blossom, surrounded by a mass of glossy green oval leaves. Seeds spill into and weight down one of its petals.

You know that Spring has truly arrived at UT Dallas when our Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) trees start to blossom. This particular specimen was planted along with several others at the north end of Margaret McDermott Mall in 2015, during the second phase of the Campus Landscape Enhancement Project. Though younger than their siblings at the south end of campus, these trees now reach the roof of the Administration Building.
