Sciences Building
Virtual Tour
Take a virtual tour of UTD’s Sciences Building, a 187,000-square-foot structure that holds 21 labs outfitted for research and instruction in cryogenics, optics, magnetism and electricity. The facility also includes a special collaboration space that allows for research and classroom areas to be joined together. Over 20% of the materials used to construct this Certified LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] Gold building are recycled, the roof and most of the surrounding hardscape reflect back sunlight to mitigate the urban “heat island” effect, and the entire structure was designed to use less energy for cooling and lighting. The University’s Department of Physics has called the Sciences Building its home since the facility opened in July of 2020.
