A small black cargo truck, with one side completely opened by a pair of doors that stretch its full length, reveals a small stage inside complete with a grand piano, gauzy background, and a pair of pianists in protective masks. In front of the truck a group of people, each spread far apart from one another, applaud the performance.

The Concert Truck, a mobile stage for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, delivered a pop-up classical piano performance to an appreciative socially-distanced gathering outside the new Sciences Building. Founded by concert pianists Susan Zhang and Nick Luby, the program has been bringing free classical chamber music directly to North Texas communities since 2016. All of UTD’s newest facilities have been designed to include more spaces for meetings, lectures, and performances.
