The mission of the Office of Facilities & Economic Development is to support the growth and success of UT Dallas. Service is not what we do, Service is who we are.
The Office of Facilities & Economic Development has been adapting UTD’s infrastructure, operations and services to support the University under the rapidly changing conditions of the worldwide coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak. All departments have been doing their part to help our students, faculty and staff stay safe. In addition to moving non-essential staff off campus, each department is taking steps to ensure the University of Texas at Dallas continues its mission of education and research in these extraordinary times.
To reduce the spread of the virus, our Facilities Management staff deep-cleaned all the common areas of campus before the decision was made to close them completely. They continue to sanitize countertops, door knobs, hand rails and other surfaces that people regularly touch. Bathrooms are receiving a high pressure wash with disinfectant on all surfaces, including walls, floors, partitions and plumbing fixtures, as well as the undersides of sinks, toilets and urinals. Offices and other potentially congested areas are being cleaned with an electrostatic gun that can reach into corners and crevices.
Enough two-ounce bottles of hand sanitizer have been secured to provide one to every student in the University, with larger refill bottles being deployed at strategic locations around campus.
While most Dining venues are closed to help with social distancing, Dining Hall West (DHW) is offering a boxed meal carry-out service, and The Market at DHW is still selling coffee and other “grab-and-go” pre-packaged items.
The physical locations of the Parking office and the Book & Tech Store have been closed, but they are still able to process orders online.
For the time being, visitors to campus may park in Green or Housing parking spaces without a parking permit.
The Comet Cabs, our Accessible Cart Service, and our partners at Booster Fuels are not currently operating, but the Comet Cruiser is still running on its normal schedule.
Mail Services / Central Receiving is still operating with reduced staff, but all incoming packages and mail will be sorted by department and stored in SB 1.2, where a department’s representative can pick it up by presenting a valid Comet Card.
As this situation changes, we plan to keep up with it, and keep to you informed of how we adapt to the coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak as we work to maintain the health and safety of the University community.
